As hard as #1 is, #2 is even harder - that technology basically doesn't exist for the very simplest of cases. But if you'd liek to give it a shot, try File / Import PDF from within MuseScore. There do exist some tools that can try to work from a PDF to create a usable electronic representation, but it tends to work not very well - think, like what the very first experimental versions of Siri probably were like. Tags įor #1, if you mean you have some printed sheet music you want to 'digitize' and convert to another format, that's a hard problem. Many choirs still use tonic sol-fa exclusively, in areas of Wales, Scotland, South Africa, Australasia and Asia-Pacific - this feature could bring a whole new world of music to them much faster! To add it as a scanning feature of Photoscore would be a dream (and probably much easier than scanning a standard-notation score. This would be a valuable tool, as it would enable standard notation scores to be switched to tonic sol-fa at the click of a button (and vice-versa), rather than laboriously written out or sent to an expensive publisher.

To have even spacing of bars/measures is essential to ease of reading tonic sol-fa scores. It really requires a font of its own, based on Curwen's typeface. The difficulty of just trying to write it on, say, Microsoft Word, is that spacing quickly becomes a problem, and there are no good ways of writing the little hook (, or ' ) denoting octave, without using up more space. As far as I'm aware, there is currently no software available to do this, but I'm sure it could be done fairly easily.
